A practical upgrade path
Use Wi-Fi 6 where the client mix fits; consider 6E or 7 where compatible devices and local spectrum rules make the extra band useful. Newer radios do not remove a slow switch uplink.
Clear core licensing
Core UniFi Network management does not require a recurring per-AP licence. Hardware, optional hosted management, additional services and ITZ maintenance remain separate budget items.

Gateway selection changes ownership, routing and migration. Buying a Cloud Key alongside a Cloud Gateway is not automatically necessary.

Inventory the old controller, export a supported backup, check software versions and plan device adoption. Agree the rollback route before changing inform or ownership settings.
UDM and VLAN configuration
Build the agreed staff, guest and IoT networks with DHCP and firewall policies. Test guest restrictions from more than one AP.
PoE and cable planning
Match AP power requirements to per-port and total switch budgets. Validate the cabling and negotiated Ethernet speed at each installation point.
Troubleshooting and AMC
Investigate adoption failures, disconnected APs, unstable roaming and slow clients; define backup, firmware and monitoring responsibilities in the maintenance scope.

Retain a suitable existing firewall, add wired APs around meeting rooms and extend staff and guest VLANs through the new switch ports. Test voice and video while moving between the old and new areas.

UniFi planning questions
Do I need a UDM-SE to install UniFi access points?
No. Compatible UniFi access points can be managed with a suitable UniFi Network control plane while another router remains in place. A UDM-SE is an option when an integrated gateway and management appliance fits the network design.
Is U6 Enterprise a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 access point?
U6 Enterprise is Wi-Fi 6E, including 6 GHz support where available. U7 Pro is Wi-Fi 7. The best choice depends on client support, permitted bands, switching and the applications using the network.
Can ITZ move our UniFi controller without resetting every AP?
A supported backup and migration process may preserve the configuration, but the method depends on the old and new control planes, versions and administrative access. Share the current controller details before a migration window is agreed.
Does UniFi have recurring AP licence fees?
Core UniFi Network management has no mandatory recurring per-AP licence. Optional hosting, added subscriptions, hardware and installation or maintenance services may carry charges. The proposal separates these costs.
Can you quote UniFi APs together with installation in Dubai?
ITZ can scope equipment sourcing, cabling, mounting, configuration and testing together. Send the floor plan, approximate device count and any existing models. Regional stock and the final equipment schedule are confirmed in the quotation.
